About Stuart Spence
Stuart Spence has always been driven to push creative boundaries, challenge audiences and to evoke emotional response. His likes to move between a wide range of assignments and clientele. This aligns with his connection to seeing the world as a multitude of differing ideas and energies requiring response in fluid, boundless ways.
Spence is a professional photographer working in a number of disciplines, from personality and corporate portraiture to interiors and events. His work spans fine art to marketing and advertising campaigns and can be seen on the side of a bus or in a gallery.
As well as photography, Spence is frequently called upon as creative director/consultant, overseeing complete projects from concept to end production.
He has run his own creative agency, Permanent Wave Media, since 1989, with clients ranging from high end corporates such as Qantas, Virgin, Rosemount Wines, Shangri La Hotels and Resorts to arts organizations such as The Australia Council, Belvoir St Theatre, The Tamarama Rock Surfers and Force Majeure, and right across a wide variety of print and online publishing entities, spanning three decades. Some of these include: Rolling Stone, The New Scientist (UK), W Magazine (NY), Womens' Wear Daily (NY), Who Weekly, The Good Weekend, The Australian Magazine, Mode, Madison.
Stu has a deep love for music, having been involved in the music industry for a considerable time; working with both high end and independent labels, as well as a host esteemed musicians and bands, both famous, and underground. Clients include: Warner Music, Mushroom Records, Polygram, Sony. Artists include: INXS, Kylie Minogue, Paul Kelly, Mark Seymour, Silverchair (too many more to mention).
